OFFICIAL WRESTLETOWN™ RULES OF PROCEDURE
Thank you for taking the time to check out Wrestletown™. Before filling out an application, please take the time to become acquainted with our rules of procedure, so that you have a full understanding of what we are about.
A. GENERAL
1. Wrestletown™ is an angle only fed. The are no competitive matches in Wrestletown™. The enjoyment to be derived out of participating in Wrestleland™ stems from being part of a storytelling process where your character becomes more and more fleshed out over time as his or her storyline interweaves with the stories of fellow wrestlers, as well as the supporting characters that are made up of a variety of different personalities throughout the town.
2. To the extent that there may be considered and competitive component of Wrestletown™, it would be with the premise that your character is competing for air time on the bi-weekly Wrestletown™ show. The more active you are during the week in developing your character's story, the greater air time you will receive on the weekly card. From an OOC perspective, this is because we reward activity, first and foremost, in Wrestletown™; and from an IC perspective, Wrestletown™ is a television show that is seeking to generate ratings; and the producers will want to invest its limited air time in those wrestlers who are promoting themselves and who have interesting stories to tell.
3. Please Note that unlike many other feds, while there is a bi-weekly show, the matches for the show are not predetermined. As such, with limited exceptions that are in furtherance of set storylines, you will not be given a specific opponent to roleplay against in advance of the card. Rather, Wrestletown™ is structured similar to a RAW event, in that the card is assembled impromptu (IC) on the night of the card.
4. Please Further Note that unlike many other feds, while there will be several matches on each card, the story that unfolds on each card will not necessarily take place inside the ring; rather, each episode of Wrestletown™ will explore all of the interaction that takes place at the arena on the evening of the event, including the action back stage, in the ring, in the locker rooms, in the parking lot, in the concession areas, etc.
B. WHO WRESTLETOWN
™ IS FOR AND WHO IT IS NOT FOR
™ IS FOR AND WHO IT IS NOT FOR
Given the Introduction, you may have already concluded that Wrestletown™ is appealing, or that it is definitively not for you. As further guidance however, please consider the following.
1. Wrestletown™ will not be for you if you are interested in competitive roleplaying, or if you measure success as a handler or derive your enjoyment primarily out of winning titles. There are titles in Wrestletown™, and there will be opportunities to compete for titles; but that is not the point of Wrestletown™. Outcomes will be predetermined, with the only criterion being what advances the storyline. It cannot be stressed enough that the enjoyment to be derived out of this specific fed is in being part of an ongoing story that allows your character to interact with other characters and evolve over time.
2. Wrestletown™ will not be for you if you are put off by management using your characters to tell a story. In order to fully enjoy your time in this fed, you must relinquish some control over your character. This is not because management is made up of a bunch of control freaks, but rather because the enjoyment comes from the surprises and twists that will occur concerning your character as you read the results. With that in mind, we will always give you the opportunity to submit segments and ideas for the show, and will usually defer to your specific preference for a show (and if not, will brainstorm with you for a workable storyline). Also, we're going to treat every character with respect, inasmuch as we are not going to do any irreparable damage to any character.
3. Wrestletown™ will not be for you if you are not interested in the storytelling aspect of roleplaying-- and in particular, collaborative roleplaying. There will be many, many characters-- including many side characters handled by management-- who will interject themselves into your characters' stories. If this is something that appeals to you, and will get your creative juices flowing, you are in the right place. If this is something you are not familiar with, we encourage you to give it a chance. If this is something that does not interest you-- if you are more interested in just telling your story your way with no input from or interaction with other handlers or management-- then Wrestletown™ may not be your cup of tea.
4. Wrestletown™ will not be for your if you either lack a suspension of disbelief, or lack the desire to respect realism in your storytelling. On one hand, like any fed in which Professional Wrestling is being depicted as a real sport, there needs to be a suspension of disbelief. After all, in what other sport would chair shots be acceptable, and would a match continue in the presence of an unconscious referee? On the other side of the spectrum, we operate from a realistic storytelling perspective. If there are crimes, those crimes will be investigated; and there will be consequences for them. All actions that take place IC within Wrestletown™ have consequences.
If at this point you have not been completely turned off to the Wrestletown™ concept, I applaud you, and invite you to turn to the remaining rules below.
C. CREATING A WRESTLER AND /OR TOWNIE
1. The first thing you need to know is that like may other feds, Wrestletown™ is for original characters only. As such, there are no John Cenas or Chris Jerichos or CM Punks.
2. Please refer to the “taken list” before joining, as we have a strict ONE picture base per character rule. This applies to wrestlers and staff as well. If someone else has the picture base you want, you'll need to bring another character in or change your base. That is also true of theme music.
3. Handlers may only control a maximum of TWO wrestlers and TWO townies at any one time, and are in fact encouraged to handler multiple characters, since this opens up the options for multiple-character story lines. If a handler is active with three characters and wishes to handle additional characters, they may request same, which shall be considered on a case by case basis.
4. In addition, handlers may control non-wrestling supporting characters that are intended to interact with wrestlers, which we call "Townies." This may include managers, or people who live and work within the Wrestletown™ communities of Holston and Sunshine Springs, Pennsylvania. Townies will have a separate application.
5. This is not as much a rule as it is a tip or suggestion. Before filling out your application and selecting a wrestler that you will introduce into the Wrestletown™ Universe, please take a time to read the back story for Wrestletown™, so that it will help you decide where your character fits into the storyline. For those who have not yet read the back story, here is the Cliff Notes synopsis: Wrestletown™ is both the name of the bi-weekly show as well as the nickname of the township of Holston, Pennsylvania-- a blue collar town historically known for its fanatical support of the country powerhouse high school wrestling program-- a town that lives for wrestling season, where everyone in town knows the high school wrestling lineup off the top of their head (think what "Friday Night Lights" was to football). The town has suffered from the economic crisis, but with the legislation being passed sanctioning professional wrestling in the town, the emergence of the Wrestletown™ organization and bi-weekly program seeks to spark economic growth and hope in the community.
As such, feel free to create a wrestler who fits into this universe. It can be someone who had wrestled for the Holston Huskies in past years; it can be someone who has sought out employment with the Wrestletown™ because it is one of the only sanctioned wrestling organizations in the country; or it can be someone who has a completely different reason for joining.
C. APPLICATIONS
1. At this time, there is no roster cap, although this rule will be reevaluated depending upon the level of activity. Keep in mind, however, that just because you are on the roster does not mean you will appear on every card. The primary rule is that if you are active during the week, you will find yourself with a spot on the card; and there will be a relative correlation between your activity leading up to the card, and the air time you receive on the card.
2. When you've posted your profile, the next step is to produce a début roleplay. This is MANDATORY, as roleplaying is the whole point of being here. Due to the unfortunate flakiness of e-fedding (and I've been guilty of the same in the past, so I'm not judging), if you do not roleplay within five (5) days of posting your profile, it will be presumed that you have decided not to be part of Wrestletown™ and your profile will be removed. This is important so that we have a sense of how many active slots we have at a given time.
3. You will find that the application is very thorough, and you may not have considered some of the questions that are posed within the application. That is okay. While we encourage you to fill out as much as you can-- because the more fleshed out your character is, the easier it is to find the most interesting storylines for him or her-- you need not fill everything out. However, we ask that you start to think about those areas that you could not fill out, and as your character's story progresses, we may place him or her in situations that force your character to address those areas of uncertainty.
4. There are two separate application options. There are WRESTLER applications and TOWNIE applications. You may handle up to two wrestlers and two townies at any given time. This rule may be relaxed and additional characters granted on a case-by-case basis, depending upon the level of activity of the handler requesting more characters.
D. COMMUNITY MESSAGE BOARDS 2. In addition to the wrestlers' Message Boards, there will be additional Message Boards for a variety of side characters that are handled by staff-- mostly townies who have, for different reasons, taken a particular interest in the emergence of the Wrestletown™ program coming to their town. You may interact with them-- and rest assured, many of them will have an opinion of you, one way or another.
For more on these "side characters," including full biographies, so that you may begin to think how they may interact with your character, please check here.
E. WRESTLETOWN™ SHOWS AND BEING BOOKED For more on these "side characters," including full biographies, so that you may begin to think how they may interact with your character, please check here.
1. As a reminder, you will only be booked for events once you have posted your application and an debut roleplay.
2. Wrestletown™ Shows run on Monday evenings, live from the Steel Mill Auditorium in Holston, Pennsylvania, which has 3,000 seating capacity. The show is aired by way of public access television, which is available in approximately 30,000 homes in the surrounding communities. Since the company is new, and Holston has been chosen as a test market for a relatively new sport, the venue is small, with the hopes of expanding upon success.
3. We post an “opt out” thread for each Wrestletown™ show, which stays active until Friday at 10:00 p.m. EST prior to the show. If for whatever reason you do not want your wrestler to appear on the show, you must post in the opt out board by that time. If you do not do so, your character will appear on the show in some capacity.
4. You may, through your roleplays and Community Board interaction through the week, petition for a certain match. It may or may not be granted, depending upon the needs for the storyline; however, it is helpful to know what your preferences are, and same will be taken into consideration.
5. Remember, not every wrestler will have a match on a card; however, everyone who does not opt out will appear on the card in some manner advancing his or her storyline.
6. If you wish to submit a segment for a show, the deadline for same is Friday at 10:00 EST prior to the show.
F.AFTERMATH SEGMENTS
1. Aftermath Segments are available for those who wish to be assigned one. They are essentially writing assignments to help you advance storylines if you are stuck. You may request one, and if you do, requests must be made by Friday at 10:00 EST prior to the show. If you request an assignment and do not complete it, there is no penalty, except that management will reserve the right not to assign an Aftermath Segment the following week.
2. Many of these Aftermath Segments will call for a collaborative roleplay, whether with another handler or with a character handled by management. In the event that it calls for a collaborative roleplay with a character handled by management, you may DM us the boards, or find us on AIM at CarterHayesUniverse or OnlyTrevorHere to workout the details for how to best collaborate.
1. Our site maintains a Chat Box, which will serve two purposes. Generally, Chat Boxes are available for OOC chat, which is encouraged.
2. However, there will be "special live events," during which the Chat Box will be used for In Character interaction to further storylines. For example, there may be a special "Fan Meet and Greet" where everyone (your wrestlers, your side characters, as well as the "townies" handled by management) are invited to participate.
H. FRIDAY NIGHT ROUNDUP
1. Every Friday, there will be a News Letter called the "Friday Night Roundup" that summarizes the events that have taken place in the preceding week, and pose questions, contain rumors, and engage in analysis of the card to follow on Monday night.
I. GENERAL BEHAVIOR
1. If you feel aggrieved that you've lost, please approach management privately to discuss the matter. We will then give you detailed feedback as to why the decision didn't go in your favor. Anyone who makes their gripe public knowledge won't be in the fed for very long.
2. In terms of behaviours, we just want people to play the game and have fun. The old DBAD rule firmly applies here: Don't Be A Dick.
3. We only want IN Character drama. That's the only kind of drama that has a place in this game.
4. Finally, I cannot stress enough that I highly ENCOURAGE feedback and suggestions. Anything you want to see happen to make this place more enjoyable, do hesitate to post on the OOC board or shoot me a DM. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy.
