EXT. PARK - AFTERNOON
Jamie stops in his tracks. He shrugs, clearly more preoccupied in finding his way than he is in this conversation.
Jamie has tuned checkers out. He smiles at something in the distance.
The two stare upon the large, domed building at the far end of the wide street. The building itself, from the outside, looks like one massive skateboard ramp. A large, multicolored sign hanging on the outside reads, "COMING SOON: THE WHEELHOUSE." As our duo gaze upon its brilliance, we hear almost an angelic hymn in the background, and the sun seems to shine particularly bright upon the building.
INT. THE WHEELHOUSE - CONTINUOUS
As our boys step into the Wheelhouse, they are immediately greeted to the hard sounds of Pennywise's "Unknown Road" pumped through the speaker system, although the facility appears to be empty.
Our duo just stand in awe. The Wheelhouse is practically an amusement park unto itself, with rooms leading to different chambers with different courses.
It is colorful and wild. There are half pipes, quarter pipes, bowls, ledges, rails, banks, stairs, and ramps of various sizes.
CHECKERS pulls out his board.
Despite his appearance, Checkers can actually move on a board, and he takes to park with complete vigor.
Before reaching for his board, Jamie elects to take a tour, moving to a wide hallway leading to another chamber.
INT. WHEELHOUSE - THE SANCTUARY - CONTINUOUS
Jamie enters the adjacent chamber, and what awaits him is breathtaking.
Jame is so in awe of his surroundings that it takes him a few moments before he notices that he is not alone in the room, that there is someone boarding, navigating the halfpipe with grace and velocity. Jamie stands impressed, and is in for a shock when the thin framed boarder stops right in front of him.
Jamie is left speechless yet again, as the boarder removes her helmet to reveal a familiar face:
She smacks him on the arm.
Beat.
She smacks him in the arm again.
She laughs.
Jamie pulls out his deck, and we are treated to a MONTAGE SEQUENCE, set to N.E.R.D.'s Rock Star, that shows off Jamie's board skills-- starting with ollies and stalls, and progressing into kickflips and tilt flips. The series ends with Jamie coming to a halt in front of his new friend.
She nods.
With that, Allison, hops on her board.
Allison flashes Jamie a smile, and takes off.
Jamie watches her leave, as CHECKERS enters the room, carrying a joint, taking his place at Jamie's side.
He hands Jamie the joint.
FADE TO BLACK
We open on the grounds of PURE AMUSEMENT THEME PARK on a cool Louisiana afternoon. It is a festive, colorful atmosphere. An adult crowd flock from attraction to attraction. We find P.A.W. competitor JAMIE WHEELER, and his partner in crime, CHECKERS, strutting by. Each has a skateboard strapped to his back. JAMIE is carrying a map of the park, trying to navigate his way around.
JAMIE
Wait. Hang on. I think we're
supposed to make a left here.
No wait. Shit, I think I have
the map upside down. Shit, I
am so baked right now. Maybe
we should just ask someone.
CHECKERS
So let me get this straight,
they're just giving you your
own fucking skate park to run?
JAMIE
That's what they said.
CHECKERS
No strings attached?
CHECKERS
J.C., that shit don't make no
sense. You sure you don't have
to do something, like clean a
bathroom, or suck a dick maybe?
JAMIE
There it is.
CHECKERS
Sweet Mary Mother of God.
JAMIE
She's...beautiful.
The two race toward the building.
CUT TO:
CHECKERS
Fuck yeah, bro!
Jamie is literally weeping at the site of it. He reaches into his shit pocket for a Kleenex.
Despite his appearance, Checkers can actually move on a board, and he takes to park with complete vigor.
Before reaching for his board, Jamie elects to take a tour, moving to a wide hallway leading to another chamber.
JAMIE
Hello!? Anybody here!?
CUT TO:
INT. WHEELHOUSE - THE SANCTUARY - CONTINUOUS
Jamie enters the adjacent chamber, and what awaits him is breathtaking.
JAMIE
Wow.
JAMIE
Hey, that was some impressive--
JAMIE
You? What are you--
GIRL
I work here here. At least
I did work here until two
days ago, when I got news
they were putting someone
they were putting someone
else in charge, some dick
I assume, and changing the
name to the Wheelhouse. So
now I've been relegated to
running games and concessions.
What are you doing here?
running games and concessions.
What are you doing here?
Jamie smirks.
JAMIE
I think I'm the dick.
GIRL
You asshole! I should have
known it was gonna be you.
Wheelhouse? Shit, I'm so
stupid, it makes perfect
sense. All of you wrestlers
coming in and taking over--
JAMIE
Where'd you learn to skate
like that?
GIRL
What? I don't know. Brothers,
boyfriends, not much else to
do around here, well, until
the circus moved into town
at least.
GIRL
Why? You think I'm good?
JAMIE
Nah, you suck. Get out of here.
JAMIE
Eeooww! If you're gonna
keep hitting me, I'm gonna
have to insist on at least
knowing your name.
GIRL
Allison.
JAMIE
Allison.
ALLISON
Everybody calls me Ally.
JAMIE
Oh, do they now?
A moment of awkward silence creeps in, as Ally momentarily gets lost in Jamie's stupid, boyish grin.
ALLISON
So, let me see
what you've got.
JAMIE
See what I've got?
ALLISON
Let's see what you can
do with a board. Seeing
how you stole my job, I
would like to see if the
change of skate park
management was warranted.
Jamie nods in agreement.
JAMIE
You kidding me? I'm to a
ramp what Thorton Melon
was to a diving board.
ALLISON
Alright, Thorton, let's
see what you've got.
JAMIE
Fair enough.
She nods.
ALLISON
Not bad. I guess Kippy's
mom ain't the only one
whose got it going on.
JAMIE
Wait, where you going?
ALLISON
My lunch break is over.
Gotta get back to the
coin toss and hand out
stuffed fucking frogs.
ALLISON (O.S.)
See you around,
wrestle-boy.
CHECKERS
Yo, all I can say is if
you ever get fired, or
get any notions of walking
way from this sport, I will
personally kid your ass.
