Kolin ducked under the small open area of the bar and headed for the door, holding it open for Laila. Their cars were of course the only two in the parking lot, and parked right beside each other at the very back of the lot. Both of them paused as they got to their cars and looked at the other one. It was a very awkward pause, that only got worse when Laila went for a handshake and Kolin attempted a hug. He pulled back for the handshake only to have Laila move in for the hug. Finally they did a very quick hug and then got in their respective vehicles. Kolin started up his car and made the quick drive to his apartment, hoping that things were still relatively normal. He parked and headed up the stairs, grabbing his keys. As he looked up after pulling his keys out, he noticed that the door was slightly open.
"No, shit shit shit."
He shoved the door open and pulled his gun, expecting that Cathal was there after backing out of the deal he made. Instead the place was empty. He looked all around, no one there at all. His eyes suddenly went wide as his face turned white as paper. He grabbed his phone and frantically dialed a number. After a few rings he got an answer.
"Where is she you son of a bitch, what the fuck have you done with my sister?"
The response from the other end was indignant and adamant.
"If you're lying about this, I will rip out your fucking intestines and hang you with them."
More screaming from the other end, and more denials.
"All right, you didn't take her."
He angrily hit the button to end the call.
"How the hell did she get out?"
As he stood there with his head in his hand, he heard a knock at the door. He looked up to see Mister Papagorgio, the building the manager.
"What?"
"Here's the extra key for your sister."
Kolin looked at him with a strange expression as he caught the key.
"Yea, she asked if I could get one for her this morning. Said you must have forgot and locked the door on your way out."
"SHIT!"
Kolin stuffed the key in his pocket and headed out.
"What the hell?"
Kolin stopped and turned around.
"I didn't forget the key sir. She's... she's detoxing all right. I wanted her to stay in there because I didn't want her to find any shit around here."
"Whoa, I don't need no druggies around here."
"She's getting better, all right?"
"Fine, but if she's sticking around, you gotta take one of them two bedroom units."
"Fine, right now I just need to find her."
Kolin stomped down the stairs and grabbed his phone. He went through a few windows and luckily the GPS app he'd installed on her phone was working.
"Still in Holston. don't know if that's good or bad."
He got in his car and quickly pulled out of the parking lot. Luckily Holston was a small town and he found his destination quick, He pulled into the nearest spot and looked up at the small sign on the building.
"Eloisa's Bakery?"
"No, shit shit shit."
